Thank You is the Key.

Harifa Daly reflects on how gratitude shaped her life, opened doors, and became a powerful key to connection, kindness, and purpose.

How Gratitude Transformed My Life.
My name is Harifa Daly, born and raised in a little village called Naminjiwa. There, we walked barefoot with pride and woke each morning to the sounds of market women calling out, preparing to sell their farm produce. In that village, our parents taught us many things but one lesson stood out: always respond with “thank you.”

Gratitude wasn’t just a word, it was a way of life.
As I grew older and moved away from home, I carried that teaching with me. Early in my career, I saw the real power of “thank you.” While others focused only on work, I made it a habit to appreciate every gesture big or small. I thanked coworkers who supported me, the cleaner who made our space shine, and the supervisor who gave me a chance.

People often ask why I’m complimented in my work. The answer is simple: I smile with gratitude and lead with appreciation. I say “thank you” when people open their homes, when they trust me to work for them. It may seem small, but it touches hearts. Outside work, gratitude has brought unexpected friendships, kindness, and open doors I never imagined. Saying “thank you” reminds others that their efforts matter and in return, the universe rewards a thankful heart.

Today, I continue to live by those two words. And I teach my children the same. I remind them: “thank you” is not just good manners it is a key. A key to hearts, to blessings, and to a meaningful life. In Naminjiwa, we learned early: when your feet are bare, and your voice is kind, all you need is a thankful heart to walk into your future, and we believe it takes a village to raise a child. in our village our neighbours their our mothers.
