Developing a healthy lifestyle early in life is essential. This may be difficult to
adhere to consistently, but it is definitely rewarding for those who persevere and stick to habits of healthy living. We must realize that some of the fatal illnesses claiming lives daily are due to unhealthy lifestyles.
Our lifestyle today is like a seed waiting to germinate in the future, meanwhileit is safer and cheaper to be proactive than reactive.
Despite our busy schedules, creating workout time should form part of our daily priorities. It is imperative to note that aging slows down metabolism, thereby making it more difficult to burn off fat despite consistent exercise. Staying physically active daily is paramount even if the benefits are initially
inconspicuous physically. Although, you feel the benefit of any workout you do mentally almost immediately. Our body fat mass increases with aging while our muscle mass decreases. When one keeps up with working out, the positive physical results eventually become obvious. The correlation between a healthy lifestyle and longevity cannot be overemphasized.
It sure feels good to look at yourself in the mirror without sagging skin hanging over. The negative effect of lack of exercise is more manifest after childbirth in most women. Some of us depend on body shapers, waist trainers and other artificial props which are temporary measures. Prolonged use of the waist trainer may have devastating side effects and could make you complacent about getting rid of an unhealthy lifestyle and excessive weight. I know the latest trend is going under the knife. Even if you do decide to have a gastric sleeve, liposuction, tommy tuck etc. You will still need a healthy lifestyle to maintain the new makeover body. This just tells you that regardless of what we do, we should make exercise, healthy diet and sleep a fundamental priority.
Exercising invigorates you, prevents various health challenges, enhances your memory, releases endorphins to your brain, eliminates insomnia, increases your energy level, boosts your self-esteem, reduces fat and builds up your muscles. The satisfaction from working out is priceless. You can choose an activity you enjoy, from going to the gym, taking a walk on the street, walking in the woods, beach or park, biking, gardening, housework, yoga, hiking, farming, aqua aerobic(which I love to bits, because the water supports your movement), and you get less after workout effects like muscular pains. You can start your exercises with five minutes a day and gradually build it up to an hour or even two hours daily.
You must be extremely determined to keep at it, especially when you are doing your best but it still looks like nothing is happening. Quitting wouldn’t burn off the excess fat, break down your cholesterol or high blood pressure etc. You are better off focusing on the inner benefits than the physical inconvenience which could easily get you discouraged if you do not see immediate physical results.
Working out without a healthy diet or eating habit, in my opinion, is a waste of time. Some people go on a diet but do not workout, while others work out and do not have a diet regime. A balance of both will definitely make us all healthier and fitter. Give it a try and experience that spring and summer with much better health, confidence and swag.
