The Deep Table is a new six-part live conversation series that brings together a diverse mix of voices to have open, honest, and courageous conversations about race, identity, life, and the human experience. Hosted by Ebun A Joseph, each episode features three guests and a live audience.

Purpose & Vision
At The Deep Table, we believe real change happens not in shouting matches or social media threads, but in brave, human conversations — the kind that make us uncomfortable enough to grow. The goal is not to diversify the table, but to deepen it — by asking difficult questions, sitting with complexity, and listening across our differences.

The Deep Table speaks to anyone hungry for real talk about race and humanity — from community members and students to educators and policy-makers.
Through grounded, courageous conversation, the series aims to shift Ireland’s public dialogue from denial to reflection, and from tolerance to true acceptance.

SERIES 1 – EPISODE 1: Sitting with Racism
We open the series with the question: What does it take and mean to sit with racism instead of running from it? This episode invites guests and audience alike to pause, listen, and face the discomfort of racial realities — not to shame, but to understand. Together, we explore what staying in that discomfort can teach us about ourselves, our systems, and our potential for change.
